Here's my quick 'n easy Photoshop eye brightening trick:

1. Open your portrait image.

2. Choose the Dodge tool.

3. Set the Range to "Highlights" and the Exposure to 18%.

4. Swipe the brush ONCE ONLY across the whites and irises of one eye.  Repeat for the other eye.

Voila!  Brightened eyes for the time impaired artist. (If only we could brighten up our own tired eyes as easily!)
