Do we ever REALLY see the path?

This photo was taken while hiking in a forest preserve on the Kapaa Coast (east side) of Kauai back in December of 2008. At the time, I recall thinking there really NEEDED to be a Hobbit village at one or both ends of the trail, it had that ... feel ... about it. And look.
Standing here in-between and looking at the trail and at Life, one trail seems to go up, the other down ... but where will each end? Or do either of them ever really end? Where are they going? Where are we going? Where am I going?
It seems that I've always got more questions than I can answer. I can answer so many photography-related questions, I just wish I could answer some of the life-related ones! But in the meantime, I'll keep taking pretty pics and posting them and plenty of answers and articles here.
