Squinting into the Sun

During the summer, it's BRIGHT outside, even in the shade. When photographing friends & family, have them close their eyes. Count 1-2-3 and have them open their eyes. Take the image - quickly! - before they start squinting. The photos are MUCH more flattering that way!
This tip works well when photographing in bright white snow, too.
