A day of adventure on the Oregon coast

Hanna is a vocal performer and would like to model while she is in college. She had no modeling experience prior to this session, so it was a chance for her to learn to express herself in front of the camera. It was, of course, GREAT fun!

From a trip to "the Blast Zone" that is starting to recover from the massive eruption of May 18, 1980, when several thousand feet of the top of the mountain and several cubic miles of it's north side blew away in a matter of minutes. ALL photographs have enhanced contrast and color saturation, as it is still such a light reflective grey there are few shadows and NO blacks to give depth and definition for the eye!

These pics are of family fun during March of 2010, with the two late-20-something women who have been or are living with us, Veronica and Anita. Veronica is the daughter of pro photog friends (and a great model!) and Anita is a Taiwanese student at a local American language/cultural program nearby.

We traveled to our nation's capitol to visit our daughter who is a student in Gettysburg. It was fun being a tourist and just playing with the camera. I couple of the photographs that I am in were taken by other tourists.

My photography class had a field trip to Tule Springs, a historic area on the north end of the Las Vegas valley. The two assignments were to get a picture of 1) one of the buildings that shows the white wall and details in the wall with the blue sky in the background and 2) a white goose showing the details of its feathers and a blue eye. I stayed all day with a friend and tried out my new Tamron 90mm macro.

Dare to Be RED is a reminder to live our lives fully, to celebrate joys small and great. We are all great souls - we should not waste our time sleep-walking through half-empty, colorless lives. We should live our lives large - awake and bold. We can dare to be RED!

I wanted some new images for note cards and Cristy's kids are hams! Too fun.

I just love this picture. I took only 4 pictures and I was very pleased with what I ended up with. I should really go through my pictures more often, just ran across it. This is now my screen saver.

Southern Nevada had a week of heavy rain in the lower elevations and snow in the mountains. Red Rock Canyon doesn't usually get snow so this was quite a sight. I took my 3 1/2 year old grandson on the 13 mile scenic drive - to play in the snow and take some pictures of the two of us.

These are before and after pictures after my first try with Photoshop Elements 7. Prior to this, I had only done photo editing with what came with Windows. I AM SO HAPPY with the results... and this is just with the basic PSE7 editing features. More pictures from Calico Basin are in a separate album.

These pictures were taken during an outing to try out my new Tokina 12-24mm Pro DX II wide angle lens.

Cherie's visit for the holidays

Our pond froze over, and friend/renter Veronica Short joins Lars, Miriam, and Neil out on the ice of our "little" pond.

I don't normally do portraits outside in December. Oregon's weather is just too cold and wet. This year we had an unusual cold spell and our pond froze! This boy comes in every year near his birthday for portraits and I took him out onto the frozen pond. Happy 13th birthday, Janson!

The end of the boring business portrait!

Portland, Oregon, USA is affectionately referred to by locals as 'Stumptown'. This nickname harkens back to the city's founding, when many trees were felled to make way for the new town. <br><br>These photos were taken during a recent mini-vacation to the city - December 2009.

Most of these images were taken during our Portraits with Santa but I included a few other favorites that fit the holiday season.

These images are of Dr. Pat Huff, DO, who besides being a doctor is an amazing banjo innovator and craftsman. His instruments feature several unique design features of his own creation, and are crafted of beautiful wood by his own hands in his own shop. It was a joy and privilege to spend the day with him, and record these images.

Neil and Miriam were hired to do photographs a new website for "Doc's Banjos". Dr. Huff has been splitting time between doing medical mission trips to third world countries and handcrafting some of the finest banjos in the world. We spent an incredible day in his wood shop photographing, smelling sawdust, eating fresh baked apple pie and making friends.

This is one of the Children's Specials that I do though out the year. I love watching these kids grow!

These are some of my favorite photos from the Photography class I took last year. They were scanned of course and a couple I edited in PS. I put both the before and after so that I could get some feedback on which were better. I naturally gravitate to the natural photo so...

My father had a terminal illness. My father ended up in the hospital and my photo 101 final was due the next day. I ended up just grabbing some candid shots in his room. I later entered these three photos into a contest and actually won first prize! These are all manual photos, gelatin prints, and scanned so they could look better.

I have been doing a lot of family portraits in the fall leaves lately and thought I would share.
