I just came across a way-cool, easy product that you may find a delight as it allows EASY wireless transfer of your images from your camera direct to your computer. It looks like a "standard" SD memory card, but it is a wireless transmitter that can easily link to your laptop or wi-fi enabled system. It includes easy-to-use software that makes it all "work" with your computer.
If you watch Matt KosKlowski's demo below, he says the entire set-up time on the computer was around four minutes. And it worked perfectly the first time.
Each card has either 2 gigabytes or 4 gigabytes of storage besides the WI-FI transmitter, and what's more, if you have it in and go shoot some pics elswhere, when you get home and the card detects it's computer link, it automatically uploads your photos (or video for some cards) to your computer. How cool is that?
With the right set-ups on your software, you shoot, and momentarily, the image appears in Lightroom or Photoshop Elements (or whatever) on your computer's monitor. And best of all, the cost is amazingly low for such a device, running from around $50 USD to $150 USD for the "Cadillac" model. And remember, this is two or four gigs of memory BESIDES the transmitter and software!
Here's a review and four-minute demo video of the Eye-FI SD Memory Card by Matt KosKlowski over at Adobe Lightroom's Killer Tips site: DEMO
There are five different cards, two of which "only" transfer images, and three that do both images and video. If you've got one of the new cameras that does both, you might want to try out the video transfer cards.
Now, if you want more info, here's the comparison chart for the features of the FIVE different cards: FEATURE CHART
My only complaint: They don't make a CF (Compact Flash) version, and all of my cameras take the pro-leve CF cards. Durn! There is an adapter (shown on the Amazon page) that allows an SD card to be put into the adapter which fits into your camera's CF slot. It works with many of the pro-sumer CF-card-using cameras, but (sigh) doesn't seem to work with most of the professional bodies, including mine. If it did, I'd get one immediately!
